Slinger/Signaller

A slinger, signaller (or banksman) is a specialised, safety-critical construction worker responsible for safely attaching/detaching loads to cranes and guiding crane operators via radio or hand signals. They act as the "eyes and ears" for operators, ensuring lifts follow safety plans. Key duties include securing loads, selecting proper lifting gear, and managing hazards.

Courses we offer

  • Novice
  • Experienced
  • Refresher

Course Details

The Slinger/Signaller courses we offer are aimed at operators with different levels of ability. We are able to cater for both novice and experienced handlers. We also offer refresher courses.

This can vary depending on the experience level and the number of candidates completing the course. For a novice with no prior experience, a typical course can last around 2 days, and for the more experienced handler, courses including the conversion course can be completed within the same day. A refresher course can be completed on the same day, aslong as the candidate has an in-date certificate within the previous 5 years

This will depend on what level of experience the candidates have already reached. The list below explains what course is best suited to each candidate;

Novice course - The novice course is designed for candidates who have had no previous experience on this equipment

Experienced course - The experienced course is designed for candidates who have previous experience on this type of equipment but cannot provide evidence of a previous accredited training certificate

Refresher course - The refresher course is designed for candidates wishing to extend their current certificate (Handlers must have an in-date certificate within the previous 5 years)
